The 2024 edition of the Vernasso festival concluded on Sunday, August 11, after four days of intense activity, sports, music, and an incredible spirit of community. The event, which began on Thursday, August 8, saw the participation of thousands of people and once again affirmed the importance of the "Summer New Year" in the landscape of summer festivals.
Thursday: The Beginning of the Celebrations
The festival kicked off on Thursday with the relay race, which marked the start of the sports competitions and saw 30 determined teams participate. By the afternoon, the first tents had already begun to appear in the camping area, signaling the start of what would be a memorable weekend. The evening continued with a nostalgic throwback, thanks to the '90s/2000s themed night, which had both young and old dancing and singing under the stars.
Friday: A Taste of the Excitement to Come
Friday was the day when Vernasso truly began to fill up. With the majority of tents arriving at the camping area, the atmosphere buzzed with vitality as participants from all over the region and beyond gathered. The day was highlighted by the "Sweet Sunday" event, which brought joy to those present and set the stage for the weekend's increasing intensity.
Saturday: The Magic of Togetherness
By Saturday, the camping area was at full capacity, with tents multiplying to form a true sports village. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated tournaments kicked off. The 32 soccer teams and 100 volleyball teams battled it out on the fields, while participants in the first nature walk enjoyed the natural beauty surrounding Vernasso. The day ended with the "Tutti Sotto Palco" event, a musical evening that brought the crowd together in a shared embrace of music and light.
Sunday: The Grand Finale
Sunday was a crescendo of emotions. The day began with the second nature walk, offering a refreshing start to nature enthusiasts, followed by the mountain bike race, which saw 58 cyclists ready to tackle challenging trails. Meanwhile, the final stages of the soccer and volleyball tournaments unfolded, culminating in the eagerly awaited finals at 7:00 PM. In the afternoon, the much-anticipated Grass Volley tournament also took place, drawing enthusiastic participation from young players. The house music evening wrapped up this edition in style, leaving everyone eager to return next year.
Record Numbers and a Special Thanks
The numbers for Vernasso 2024 were extraordinary: 32 soccer teams, 100 volleyball teams, 30 relay teams, 5 youth relay teams, 58 mountain bikers, and 49 nature walk participants. Supporting this massive organizational effort were 8 kiosks and approximately 500 volunteers, who worked tirelessly to ensure the event's success.
A special thank you goes out to all the participants in the various sports events, the volunteers who lent a hand, and everyone who made this edition possible. Vernasso 2024 was a sun-kissed celebration that, as always, succeeded in bringing together different generations.
